Stay strong Black Mothers-to-be

Black women are statistically more likely to experience pregnancy complications, including hypertension, placental disorders, gestational diabetes, blood disorders, and preeclampsia. The systemic problems start with the social inequities studied — differing access to healthy food and safe drinking water, safe neighborhoods and good schools, decent jobs and reliable transportation. This has been a chain reaction for doom for centuries.

As the corona-virus rages on, many of us are exploring out-of-hospital birth as an option to avoid the front lines of the pandemic. A few expectant mothers are choosing home-birth midwives. Bringing everything good home; meaning if we can do it at home, do it at home. Grow your own complete healthy meals selected for the health of the mother and the new baby, and the father-to-be throughout the pregnancy.

Nationally, black women are two and half times more likely than white women to die due to complications related to pregnancy or childbirth. Things got to change.
