The CDFW; California Department of Fish and Wildlife Hatchery provides an annual Fish Planting Schedule. Although it contains current information, all fish plants are subject to change depending on the weather and operational conditions. When conditions permit, the water will be restocked with catchable-size fish from CDFW hatcheries. Specific dates however are not given to avoid excessive visitors fishing immediately after a plant. Thousands of people have lost their homeowner’s insurance in the last few years as insurance companies move out of areas that are at risk of fire damage or just stop insuring homes altogether. And the companies that remain have jacked up everyone’s annual premium by $300 to 500 annually to offset their claim cost and payouts. Essentially, we are paying for the insurance to repair homes by way of our increase, regardless if you filed a claim or not. The Kincade fire, the Tick fire, the Porter Ranch fire, and the 405 freeway approaching the Getty’s Museum was ablaze. As the hub vacation spot, we are chronically under attack by fires and contaminants. And our reward for our material lost; our real estate and our cars historically is to increase our home owner and auto premiums while we are submerged in ash. We cant go a year without another fire materializing. Equipment owned by California's three largest utilities ignited more than 2,000 fires in 3 years -- a time-span in which state regulators cited and fined the companies nine times for electrical safety violations. How the state regulates utilities is under growing scrutiny following record breaking wildfires suspected to have been caused by power line issues. Thousands of homes destroyed dozens of people killed. Lacking the manpower and sophisticated technology necessary to monitor more than 250,000 miles of power lines across the state, regulators rely on something of an honor system, with utilities responsible for ensuring all trees and vegetation are cut back far enough from electrical equipment before the onset of dry, high-fire danger conditions. We know this is not happening. Pacific Gas & Electric, the state's largest utility providing electricity from Eureka to Bakersfield, reported 1,552 equipment-related fires from June 2014 through the end of 2017. Southern California Edison, the electricity supplier for 15 million people mostly south of Fresno County, reported 347 fires in that time. Serving a 4,100-square-mile area from San Clemente to the Mexican border, San Diego Gas & Electric disclosed 115 fires in the time period. Guess what, if you did not hear. Pacific Gas & Electric has filed for BK, yes PG&E have filed for bankruptcy. August 25th, 2019 on a sweltering hot day, and unfortunately we have a 30 acres brush fire in Eagle Rock near the 2 and the 134 freeways. It seems that we cant go more than 3 months without some colossal fire. I have seen no clearing of brush and or dead trees along our high risk areas. We can always use rain, but lately the timing is horrible. My lawn was thirsty as I have not watered for a minute. Some of the neighbors on the hillside and many of the surrounding neighborhoods are trashed. The foliage and brush are gone from the fires and a considerable amount of the drains seem like they are from the forties. Mud is everywhere, and the streets are flooded. Storm alerts weekly, Russian River has flooded Sonoma County. Mudslides have damaged several homes. I can’t even imagine the effects our recent weather has been on our ever-growing homeless communities. Tons of snow in Mammoth, Big Bear and Arrowhead, and even in the SFV for a day or two. Crazy right? The Holy Fire burn area had to evacuate because of the following rains after the fire. Laguna, Maitri, Mcvicker, Rice, and Withrow all had to make other accommodations. Glen Ivy, Grace, Amorose had to evacuate too. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced a 15-day extension for those affected by the Woolsey Fire to register for assistance from FEMA. Residents of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties who suffered losses from the fire now have until February 15th to register with FEMA in order to be considered eligible for several disaster assistance programs. This extension also applies to low-interest disaster loans through the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). You may have escaped the fire but the floods are taking toll.
